China's POV

"Ah! It is a beautiful day, aru!" The Chinese man said happily, stretching as he walked.

"Da." The Russian beside him nodded in agreement, his trademark innocent smile playing on his lips.

The world meeting had ended and the two countries decided to take a walk. China really loved days like this, when it was warm and sunny and pleasant. It was perfect weather for a stroll, in his opinion. He turned to speak to his friend- and realized the Russian wasn't there. Where'd he go?

China looked around until he saw something he never thought he'd see. His Russian friend, who normally looked so powerful and intimidating, looked happier than a child at Disney, his hands grasping a sun flower. Come to think of it, why did Russia love sunflowers, anyway? Russia came from a rather cold and bitter place; you'd think he'd like a cold flower better. But, for some reason, Russia really loved sunflowers. China sorta wanted to know why.

So he sat next to the content Russian. "Russia. Is there a reason you like sunflowers so much?"

The Russian looked up at China, but.......his deep purple eyes seemed to be somewhere else.

Russia's POV

The Russian sat in the grass, thinking to himself. This scenery was rather unfamiliar to him. He was used to the snow, so grass fields and colorful flowers were a strange sight indeed. But, since he joined the Allied Powers, he'd just have to get used to it.

Russia glared bitterly as he thought about the Allied Powers. Yes, he did team up with them, but honestly? He wanted all of those bastards to burn. He was sure the feeling was mutual; he had heard them trash talking behind his back, laughing at his thick Russian accent and the size of his nose. That was the reason he was out here; he needed to escape their presence.

He then felt a hand lightly touch his shoulder, and he was about to grab his pick axe and murder whoever it was- until you saw who it was. It was you, the only person he didn't want to burn right now. You technically weren't part of the Allied Power, but because of your intelligence, you attended and contributed to the meetings. Russia had spoken to you several times and he was rather fond of you. You also had an excellent Russian name. Dashia. It was a good, strong name, and Russia thought it suited you well.

"Can I join you?" You asked, a small smile playing on your lips.

"Da." He replied. He didn't mind at all; he rather liked your presence.

Your smile grew as you sat next to him. There was a moment of silence before you spoke again. "I heard the other Allis talking about you." Russia flinched and, for once, felt a little worried. Was your opinion of him damaged? He was going to slowly murder the Allis if it was. "They were being assholes." "You said, your lips set into a frown, tucking a strand of your red hair behind your ear as you talked. "I hate men like that. All bark and no bite! But I yelled at them real good, so I don't think they'll act like that again anytime soon."

Russia was stunned. He'd never had anyone really care for him before..... Well, with the exception of Belarus, but she counted more as a stalker. You picked a sunflower and examined it, smiling. "You know, I really like sunflowers. They remind me that, while life can suck, there are still some good things, too." Your deep blue eyes sparkled as you said this.

Before he knew what he was doing, Russia wrapped his arms around you and pulled you into a bear hug. Never had he felt this warm inside. And he was enjoying every second of it, like it was a tall glass of vodka. He finally released you and you looked at him, your face redder than Spain's tomatoes. But then your smile returned and you closed your eyes, resting your head on his shoulder.

Russia smiled too, but it wasn't his usual forced smile; it was the smile of a man who was truly happy.

Britain.

He was one of Russia's supposed Allis- and his rival in love. It was obvious that he liked you, he couldn't stop stuttering and blushing when you were around. Russia assumed that Britain loved your intelligence and beauty. But the reasons didn't matter; what did matter was he didn't know what Britain was planning to do.

Russia glared at the blonde from across the table, not that Britain noticed; he was too busy watching you speak, drinking in your every word. Russia could understand that; you had the most amazing voice, especially when you were speaking with passion.

"That's a good idea." Britain said when you were done speaking, winking. You flashed him a grin and Russia felt a pang of jealousy.

"Alright, we got a plan!" America said cheerfully, a stupid grin on his face. "Meeting done!" The other countries nodded in agreement and began to leave.

Russia looked at Britain, who was talking to you. "Can I speak to you in private?" The blonde asked. You nodded and left the room with him. This worried Russia a bit and he hurried after you.

 He knew this wasn't good.

Your POV

You followed Britain down the hall, questions running through your mind. What on earth could he possibly want?

Britain stopped so suddenly you almost bumped into him. "What is it, Britain?" You asked, a glint of curiosity in your blue eyes.

His emerald green eyes met your deep blue ones. "Dashia, do you love me?" Your mouth almost dropped. Did he seriously ask you that? You weren't sure how to respond; anything you could say would only make things worse. This British man didn't wait for you to reply and continued. "Because I love you, you know. I love you so much." You then realized Britain was getting closer and closer.

Scared now, you started to run, but a strong hand wrapped around your wrist and slammed you against the wall, causing you to whimper in pain. He pinned your hands above your head, his face dangerously close to yours. "So very much." He muttered, closing his eyes. You shut your eyes, on the verge of tears. But his lips never touched yours and the hands pinning you to the wall were gone.

You opened your eyes and saw Britain on the floor, his nose gushing blood. Standing over him was a very angry, very powerful Russian. Russia? "You bastard." He hissed, his purple eyes flashing angrily. "I'll kill you!" He harshly kicked the British man in the face, sending him across the hall.

You were absolutely terrified now. This man.........he's not Russia! This wasn't the Russia you knew! You sprinted over to him and hugged him tightly. He looked at you, his deep purple eyes confused. "Please." You whimpered into his tan coat. "Stop. Please........."

The innocent smile you loved so much returned to his face as he wrapped his arms around your waist. "Da." He murmured simply.

You couldn't help but smile in relief. Thank god..........

Russia's POV

He walked through the halls, on his way to the next meeting. But, as he was about to open the door, he heard screaming. "You shouldn't be around him, Dashia!" That was America. Russia couldn't help but wonder what they were arguing about.

"Why should I listen to you?!" Screamed a voice Russia recognized as yours. "I like him, and I don't care what you think!"

"But he's dangerous!" Britain yelled. "Russia's not a good country to be friends with!" They were yelling about him?

"I'd say the same to you!" You spat bitterly. "Maybe you wouldn't think so badly of him if you actually knew him! You judge based on looks; that's what fools do! So do us both a favor and leave Russia alone!" The door flew open and he came face-to-face with you, red faced from all the screaming you'd done.

She'd done it. Russia was stunned once again. She stood up for him? But why? He needed to ask her, but......he wasn't going to do it here.

Before you could say anything, Russia grabbed your legs and slung you over his shoulder.

Your POV

It took you about five seconds to recover from the shock you'd just received. "Russia!" You yelled, pounding on his back. "Let me down right now!" He, however, ignored your request and carried you away, you flailing and yelling the whole time.

But you were enraged! You hated it when people carried you, it made you feel like some damsel in distress, and you certainly weren't that.

"Hush!" Russia snapped and you stopped. He sounded so........serious! What was he thinking?

As you drew closer, you realized where he was taking you; it was the grass field, full of sunflowers. He gently set you down and sat beside you. There was a tense moment of silence, before Russia broke it. "Did you mean what you said?"

"Of course." You replied softly. "I think you’re a good man, Russia."

Before you could react, Russia grabbed your shoulders and pressed his lips to yours. Your eyes widened, but.....you really didn't mind that he was kissing you. Closing your eyes, you kissed him back, wrapping your arms around his neck. He pulled away slowly, a sweet smile on his face.

"My little sunflower." He murmured before kissing you again.

Russia's POV

"Do you really have to leave?" He asked. But he wasn't sure if he wanted the answer. Standing in front of him was his sunflower, a suitcase in your hand and a sad smile on your face.

"I'm afraid so. I'll see you again, though, I promise."

You pressed your lips to his briefly, before walking to you plane- only to be stopped by Russia. "Here." He said simply, handing her a sunflower. "To remember me by." You couldn’t help but smile as you took the flower.

"Where are you going?" He asked. You smiled.

 "Back to mother Russia."

China's POV

He still hadn't gotten his answer. Russia just looked at him before falling asleep. He heard groaning behind him and he turned to look at the stirring Russian. "Ah, you're awake. I didn't want to wake you, you looked so peaceful, aru."

The Russian groaned softly. "But, Russia. Why do you like sunflowers?"

Russia smiled slightly. "It's a bit too complicated."

THE END

Well, technically, the story isn't centered about the love triangle. But it's an important part of the story, so I thought I'd mention it. Anyway, you guys know how Russia loves sunflowers? Yeah, well I wrote something as to why he does. I know this isn't the real reason, but I'll pretend it is.

This is for my friend, who is a huge :iconrussiaplz: fangirl. She knows who she is!
